Representing the citizens of Etowah County is a high honor, and I have worked hard to represent our shared conservative beliefs and values in the corridors, committee rooms, and chambers of the State House. While we have made great progress, implemented conservative reforms, and produced strong results over the past four years, much work remains in our effort to fundamentally change the way Montgomery operates, and I look forward to continuing the job.

I'm proud to be born and raised in Etowah County. My wife, Syndee, owns and operates The Stone Market in downtown Gadsden, and we are proud parents to our daughter, Iris Ann.

Gil holds leadership positions with the Kiwanis Club of Gadsden, on the board of the Salvation Army, and chairs the administrative board of the First United Methodist Church of Attalla.

“I don’t believe in trying to get headlines. I believe in getting results! From cutting taxes, and bringing record infrastructure investments to Etowah County, to putting a stop to the Pilgrim’s Pride chicken rendering plant, to historic education budgets and passing some of the strongest pro-life laws in the country, I’m proud of the results we’ve achieved since I was first elected four years ago. And with your support, we can continue to get these kinds of results!”

The Issues

Protecting Life

I am proud to be pro-life and to fight for the unborn in Montgomery. As your representative, I’ve worked to help pass some of the strongest pro-life legislation in the country, and I won’t stop until Roe v. Wade is overturned!

Protecting Our Future

I have helped pass some of the largest education budgets in Alabama history. I support pay raises for current and retired educators, more investments in our career tech programs, making sure all 3rd graders can read at grade level, and banning Critical Race Theory in our schools.

Protecting Our Community

Opposed the construction of the Pilgrim’s Pride rendering plant and worked to bring the issue to an end.

“There have been multiple individuals working towards a resolution to the Pilgrim’s Pride rendering plant in a civil and respectful way and I want to thank Representative Gil Isbell for that work.”

-Gadsden Airport Authority Board Chairman Jonathan Welch

Advancing Our Community

The Etowah County Mega Sports Complex will be great for our children, our community, and our local economy. I’m proud to support it and to have worked with the ECMSCA and the Tourism Board to resolve issues that blocked the Complex from being completed.

I am also proud to support and work with other community leaders to bring our new Center for Advanced Manufacturing to Gadsden State Community College.

Protecting Our Second Ammendment

I support “Constitutional Carry” and am sponsoring legislation to protect that right. Law-abiding citizens shouldn’t be forced to pay a “gun tax” (i.e., buy a pistol permit) just to exercise their rights.

The Alabama State Constitution and the United States Constitution make it clear that all citizens have "a fundamental right to bear arms" for self-defense and defense of the state.

Fighting For Our State Sovereignty

I am committed to fighting government overreach. That’s why I helped pass the ban on vaccine passports and will continue to fight the unconstitutional vaccine mandates from the Federal government.

I Am Opposed To State Shutdowns!

Growing Our Alabama Economy

Growing our economy starts by investing in our infrastructure. That’s why I have fought to secure funding for local construction projects and to expand broadband internet access and cell phone access. I also support growing our tourism and hospitality industry through the Etowah County Mega Sports Complex. And I will continue to support local businesses by fighting for lower taxes and supporting a business-friendly environment.

Election Integrity

Voting is sacred, and protecting the integrity of our elections is essential. I support stronger voter identification and absentee ballot security laws. Every legal citizen should have the right to vote and every legal vote should be counted.
